Chapter Twenty Two

With time passing by in a jiffy, school came running with it. Classes resumed and everyone came arriving onto campus. The air was filled with buzzes of all the students talking and gossiping. People were adding their final touches to their dorm and friends came dropping by to catch up.

Khushi arrived onto campus, driving in her new Escalade, a present from her parents. Once she parked, she stepped out and took in the sight of the campus.

It's good to be back, she said in her head.

The school had upgraded, creating an app for students so that they could try to save trees and go Green. The mobile app provided students with their schedules, once they were logged in. Checking her phone, Khushi headed to her first class of the year and the last class of her day.

Yup, she only had one class that day - how lucky is she?

Sitting down in her class, Khushi got her notebook and pen out. At that moment, Anisha and the Dupes arrived. They came walking in, went to the middle, and sat down.

Khushi sighed and rested her chin on the palm of her right hand. Some things never change, she sighed.

Suddenly Anisha turned her head and began to scan the room. She kept looking, until her eyes landed on Khushi. She waved at Khushi with a curl of her fingers, a slight smirk running on her face. Khushi scrunched her eyebrows and lifted her head. With another smirk, Anisha looked forward again, leaving Khushi confused.

Did she just say hi to me? Why? I thought she didn't like me.

The professor came in, cutting Khushi from her thoughts. She gave a brief introduction of what the class would be about and let them go early, since she didn't have a lesson planned for that day. As Khushi packed her stuff, she saw Anisha and her dupes looking at her from the corner of her eyes. Khushi didn't look up at them, finding the situation weird as it was and didn't need it to be any weirder.

Once the trio left, Khushi picked up her bag and headed out. She decided that she'd go visit Lavanya before she went off to her class.

This year, Khushi had decided not to dorm and decided to commute instead, since she had spent a lot money for the studying abroad program. It wasn't cheap and she didn't get much financial aid since her family made too much money.

Khushi knocked on Lavanya's door and the girl came blasting onto Khushi, taking her into her bear hug.

"La... too... tight," Khushi squeaked.

Lavanya let go. "Sorry! I'm just so happy!"

"Why? What happened?"

"AMAN ASKED ME OUT!!!"

Khushi's jaw dropped. "WHAT?!"

"YES!!!"

The two girls shrieked with joy, their shrieking surpassing the walls and damaging people's ears outside of the room.

"No way! When? How? OMG," Khushi blurted.

"Yes way! Just a couple of minutes ago. He came to the room. EEEEEEPPPPPPPP!!!!!!"

"EEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!"

Both girls shrieked once more, damaging peoples' ear drums once more.

Khushi calmed down. "Okay, okay, we need to chill. We gotta get a grip and chill."

Lavanya calmed down as well. "You're right - gotta chill. Chill flow, be chill."

But that only lasted for 30 seconds and ear drums were popped once more -_-

Lavanya's door opened, Arnav coming in with his ears covered.

"Can you guys stop shrieking, holy crap," he exclaimed.

Khushi turned and looked at him. "Arnav!" She went over to him and gave him a hug. "What's up?"

"What?! I can't hear you! My ears are dead!"

Khushi made a face and playfully smacked his chest. Arnav chuckled and poked her arm.

"I'm just messin' with you," he chuckled. "And not much, just came to see what the commotion was all about, though I have a hunch."

Khushi scrunched her eyebrows while Lavanya looked at him curiously.

"How did you know where my room was," Lavanya asked.

"Aman told me," he replied.

Lavanya nodded in acknowledgement.

Khushi looked at Lavanya, then at Arnav, and then back at Lavanya. "Why? You didn't tell him your room number?"

Lavanya opened her mouth to speak, but Arnav cut her off.

"There was a little situation with her rooming, so I didn't know."

"Really? What happened," Khushi asked.

"Oh you know how the school can be sometimes. She decided to get the rooming thing done early, since you weren't gonna dorm with her and she needed a single room, but the university only effed it up," he said, rolling his eyes and huffing. "So I didn't find out about the room and totally forgot to ask her earlier. Good thing Aman reminded me," he chuckled slightly.

Khushi tilted her head, her eyebrows scrunched.

"Isn't that right Lavanya?"

Khushi looked at Lavanya.

"Y-yeah," she replied. "Just that," she smiled lightly.

Khushi nodded in acknowledgement while the room fell quiet.

I know these two, Khushi said in her head. And I know they're lying.

There was a knock at the door and Arnav opened it. Khushi looked at the guy, completely puzzled as to who he was.

"Hey bro, what's up," Arnav said to the guy.

"Not much." He walked in and looked at Khushi. "You're Khushi right?"

Khushi tilted her head. "Yeah, I am."

The guy smiled lightly and went to Lavanya's side. "I've heard a lot about you from Lav. Even Arnav says a lot about you," he smiled.

Khushi looked at Lavanya and how the guy put his arm around Lavanya's shoulder. "Wait... you're...?"

Lavanya hit her forehead. "Oh my gosh, I totally forgot that you guys haven't met! Khushi, this is Aman and Aman, this is Khushi."

Aman chuckled. "Yes I have."

Khushi broke into a smile. "Leave it to La for forgetting about introductions."

Aman chuckled then looked at Lavanya. "I dropped by to tell you that I gotta go into town to get some stuff, so I won't see you till your class ends."

"No problem," Lavanya smiled.

The two kissed, Arnav and Khushi feeling a bit awkward, but didn't show it. Bidding his farewell, Aman left. The second he did, Khushi poked at Lavanya.

"He's a keeper," Khushi giggled.

The two giggled and Arnav rolled his eyes.

"Anyways, I gotta go. Mama's got breakfast waiting for me, and you know how Mama gets if I don't eat her food."

Lavanya chuckled. "Your mother is something else, I tell you."

"You know it," she chuckled. "See ya love. Bye Arnav," she said, turning to him.

"Laters," he smiled.

Khushi grinned as she walked out.

Arnav was about to leave, when Lavanya spoke.

"How much longer are you gonna hide it Arnav?"

Arnav paused in his tracks.

"You can't keep hiding it from her."

"There's nothing to hide," he simply replied.

"Then why aren't you telling her what happened?"

Arnav faced her. "Nothing happened-"

"Bullshit, something did happen-!"

"Nothing happened Lavanya, and you're making the situation worse than what it is!"

"I'm only saying what happened-"

"You don't know what happened, for Christ's sake! So just stop it!"

"Oh? I don't know what happened? What I saw was more than enough to know everything-"

"No! What you saw was not even close to knowing what the whole situation was. So before you open your mouth and try telling Khushi what you think happened, hush it before you cause unnecessary drama."

"Regardless on whether or not if I open my mouth, shit will go down, Arnav."

Arnav looked away. "No it won't."

"Yes it will. Be it me who tells her or you - problems will arise."

"... that's what I fear the most."

Lavanya sighed and shook her head, looking away. Arnav didn't say anything and without a word, he zoomed out of the room, not even noticing the fact that Khushi was there, leaning against the wall, overhearing their entire conversation.

What did you do Arnav?

What did Arnav do?
What is he hiding from Khushi?
What is it that it has Lavanya pissed?
What could it be?!!
Hmm...
Confusion, confusion and so many questions!
