Chapter Five

In came the baaraat, dhols being beaten away. Everyone was hype and all the little cousins went running to the gate, bribing Akash, in order for him to get in and see his bride. In the end he did give money and everyone couldn't help but be curious who taught the little kids to do this. Especially one guy, and he came forward and asked the little kids.

"Khushi Didi did," they replied and ran off with the money to give Khushi the money and split it.

They came in and settled down and Khushi came down with Lavanya and introduced her to her other cousins. While talking, one of Khushi's cousins noticed a group of boys coming in.

"Khushi look," she said. "I think that's his cousins."

"I could care less."

"Khushi, they look cute though," Lavanya said.

"Eh! So what?"

The boys came in, four of them to be exact, them in their sherwanis. Khushi's cousins and Lavanya were oggling the guys. The guys were just looking around, when a fifth guy camewalking in, the same guy who asked the kids at the gate, walking in through the middle of the group (Swag!).

"Oh my gosh," Lavanya gushed, "he's hot!"

The guy looked around and saw the girls and nudged his friends. They looked at the girls and the girls looked away and giggled, Khushi rolling her eyes at all this, her back already facing the guys. Lavanya snuck a glance up at them and noticed the middle guy looking at Khushi, the one that had nudged his friends.

"Psst! Khushi," Lavanya whispered.

"What?"

"One of them is looking at you."

"What?"

"Yeah. The hot one."

"The "hot one"? Really?"

Lavanya just nodded, ignoring Khushi's sarcasm.

Khushi rolled her eyes and turned on her heels, her hair flying as she turned. She looked at the guy and he didn't remove his gaze from her. Khushi looked the guy up and down and he looked her up and down as well. Khushi being Kinjal's daughter, Kinjal had always raised Khushi to be strong and not to get all mushy-gushy if a guy were to look at her, like in these situations.

The guy whispered something to his friends, not removing his gaze off Khushi. Khushi just rolled her eyes and turned away, turning back to the other girls.

"Khushi!"

Khushi turned and looked at Kinjal. "Yeah Ammi?"

"The dance-off'?"

"Oh yeah!" She face the others. "Let's go," she said bubbily, and they followed her.

The guys saw them leaving and then followed them to the main hall. All the guests were there and the girls stood on one side, while the boys stood on the other. The guy was still eyeing Khushi, but she ignored it.

"Okay, okay," Khushi's Nani exclaimed. "Everyone settle down."

Everyone started to hush down and listened to her.

"Before we start the rescissions, let's see which family is better at dancing, huh?"

People hollered and got excited.

"Okay! I need people from the ladke wale."

The guy looked at his friends and then they all stepped forward, all five of them.

"And some from our side."

"Khushi, let's go," her cousin whispered.

Khushi nodded and they stepped forward, Khushi taking Lavanya along.

"Khushi, let go," Lavanya whispered.

"Shut up! I've seen you dance to "Chikni Chameli" so don't give me excuses!"

Before Lavanya could even say anything, all five girls were face-to-face with the boys.

"Let's see who's got more dum," Khushi's Nani exclaimed.

The middle guy stuck his hand out. "May the best group win."

Khushi held her hand out as well. The guy went to hold it but she moved her hand away. "May the best ones win," and she walked away, her girls following her. When she looked back, she saw the guy smirking, stepping back.

The boys reached their people, when one of his little cousins tugged on his sherwani. He bent down and the little girl said "Bhaiya, the shoes are gone."

He was in shock and looked at the girls. They smirked back and he knew that they had taken it. ... clever.

And then, the best song for the situation went off.

Here's the song to go along (rhyming!):

The boys began to snap and walked towards the center, the middle guy their lead:

"Dulhe Ki Saliyon, O Hare Dupatte Waliyon
Dulhe Ki Saliyon, O Hare Dupatte Waliyon
Joote De Do, Paise Le Lo
Joote Do Do, Paise Le Lo..."

The girls weren't any less themselves and as they approached the guys, snapping their fingers, they swayed their hips from side to side, Khushi being their lead:

"Hey-Hey...Hey-Hey...Hey-Hey!

"Dulhan Ke Devar, Tum Dikhlao Na Yuh Tevar
Dulhan Ke Devar, Tum Dikhlao Na Yuh Tevar
Paise De Do, Joote Le Lo
Paise De Do, Joote Le Lo..."

But the boys weren't sparing them so easily and crowded on them:

"Joote Do...Paise Lo
Joote Do...Paise Lo!"

The girls pushed them away and an elder from the boys' side came and paid the girls and Khushi being happy with the amount, waved her little cousins over, and they came running with a basket, the shoes inside.

The middle guy fussed over the elder giving in quickly, but the elder didn't mind. When the middle guy looked back, there was a smug look on Khushi's face.

Khushi's cousin had told the DJ what song they would be dancing to and the song played off:

"Jhanak Jhanak Jhan"

Khushi's back was revealed to everyone, her dress backless, as she moved to song.

"Khanak Khanak Khan"

Khushi could feel the guy looking at her and she felt her back burn, but nothing was going to stop her now.

"Jhanak Jhanak Khanak Khanak Khan Khan"

Khushi and her girls moved their hips as they danced.

"Mera Jhumka Utha Ke Laaya Yaar Ve
Jo Gira Tha Barielly Ke Bazaar Mein

Main To Thumka Laga Ke Sharma Gayi"

She covered her face with her hands and then removed it, shaking her head saying "as if!"

"Boli Ghoom Kar Bata De Ke Main Aa Gayi

Mujhko nachaake nachle, aaja nachle nachle mere yaar tu nachle
Jhanak jhanak jhankaar

O nachle nachle mere yaar tu nachle, abb to luta hai baazar
Sabko bhulaake nachle, aaja nachle nachle mere yaar tu nachle
Jhanak jhanak jhankaar
O nachle nachle mere yaar tu nachle, abb to luta hai baazar"

Doing just the first part, she ended it smoothly and looked at the guy in the eyes.

"Your turn," Khushi said confidently.

"Show off your skills," one of the guy's friends said to him.

Khushi gave a challenging look and he chose out a song and had his friend go to the DJ to get it playing.

The song:

And the guy danced along, just to the first part, the girls just rolling their eyes from the obnoxiousness they sensed coming:

"Bachke zaraa zaraa
Shaitaaniyan meri
Oh ladies..
Oh ladies..
Karke zaraa zaraa
Bemaniyaan meri
Oh ladies..
Oh ladies..
Kare seena zori
Seena zori
Tumhe ho na ho manzoor
Tere dil ki chori
Dil ki chori
Hai mera kya kasoor
Kya karoon oh ladies
Ho..
Kya karoon oh ladies
Main hoon aadat se majboor
Kya karoon oh ladies
Main hoon aadat se majboor
Ho..
Kya karoon oh ladies
Main hoon aadat se majbur
Hazoor hazoor
Main hoon aadat se majboor
Hazoor hazoor
Main hoon aadat se majboor
Oo..oo..
Main hoon aadat se majboor
Oo..oo..
Main hoon aadat se majboor"

People clapped and the girls had to give them some props.
